Description
- The Sports Coordinator will provide support and help oversee daily operations and staffing of the following areas: Youth Sports, Adult Sports, Sports Camps, Sports Clinics, and Women in Sports Initiatives at a center and association level. Focused areas of programming will be for ages 2-18.
- Assist in developing annual operating objectives for youth and adult sports programs
- Support supervising YMCA Sports Programs including but not limited to Dance and Karate
- Leading Women in Sports Programs
- Assist Association Women in Sports programs
- Monitor the achievements of these objectives and exercises appropriate action to assure the achievements of the objectives are the highest quality programs and services
- Function within set budget guidelines and exercises necessary controls to assure operations are carried out in a balanced fiscal position
- Responsible for inventory and delivery of all program related supplies. Keep supervisor informed and current on status
- Responsible for program promotion and increasing enrollment numbers in above mentioned programs
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with volunteers, community agencies and lay leaders to solicit support for above programs
- Participate in association Design Teams and trainings
- Organize and lead summer Preschool Sports Camps at YMCA On Granby / Blocker Norfolk Family
- Recruit, Train, Supervise, and Evaluate all staff and volunteers in related departments. Assist in all appropriate staff trainings and coaching meetings/trainings
- Ensure safety, cleanliness and function of all related facilities and equipment
- Ensure all program operations are consistent with association procedures, including emergency, insurance, accident, purchasing, personnel, accounting and other administrative systems
- Incorporate character development within the activities of each program
- Assist in the leadership of family center special events
- Participate in the center aims for Activate America
- Participate in a successful annual support campaign. Active leadership required in staff giving and community campaign division
Requirements
- Degree preferred in Physical Education, Recreation or related field or working towards a degree in the above areas
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications or obtain within 30 days of hire date
- Strong human relation skills to facilitate positive relationships with participants, members, staff and volunteers
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google Suite
- Able to complete SGA Software training within 30 days of hire
Salary Description
$15 - $17 YMCA of South Hampton Roads
