Job Purpose

Honda Aero in Burlington, NC is seeking a Senior Manager to lead our FAA product certification projects and foreign validation activities. In this pivotal role, you will:

• Manage FAA product certification projects to meet company objectives.
• Lead the Certification Office and refine our certification processes.
• Coordinate certification activities with the FAA and other civil aviation authorities.
• Develop strategies that align with our company goals and promote industry initiatives.

Key Accountabilities

• Oversee FAA product certification projects and foreign validation activities.
• Mentor and guide engineers on certification requirements and procedures.
• Enhance and develop company processes related to certification.
• Support strategic objectives through participation in industry meetings and committees.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an aviation-related field is required. A Master’s degree is a plus.

Minimum Experience:

10 years of relevant experience in aircraft product development, FAA certification, and foreign validation.

Skills

Essential Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of FAA regulations and processes for 14 CFR Part 21.
• Direct experience with FAA and foreign civil aviation authorities in type certification projects.
• Experience applying U.S. bilateral aviation safety agreement procedures in foreign validation projects.

Desired Skills:

• Knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 5, 23, 33, 34, 43, and 183.
• Current or previous qualification as a DER.
• Familiarity with EASA regulations and industry standards (SAE AS9100, ARP4754, etc.).
• Strong communication skills across all organizational levels and with regulatory authorities.
• Experience managing certification teams and mentoring engineers.
• Participation in industry meetings and committees.

Working Conditions

• Climate-controlled manufacturing environment.
• Regular exposure to manufacturing areas requiring personal protective equipment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
