Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer

Job Type: Full Time / Direct Hire

Location: Cerritos, CA 90703, United States

Pay Rate: $90-$94 per hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Technical Consultation & Direction:
• Make recommendations and provide technical direction to commissioned architects and structural engineers.
• Offer technical guidance to lower-level staff within the Structural Engineering Unit.

Plan & Specification Evaluation:

• Assess and review plans and specifications submitted by commissioned or consulting structural engineers.
• Conduct peer reviews and provide guidance on structural engineering work both in-office and in the field.

Structural Reports & Policy Development:

• Prepare detailed structural reports and presentations.
• Support the planning and maintenance of structural engineering guidelines.
• Assist in developing District structural engineering policies.

Investigation & Recommendations:

• Investigate and create reports on structural engineering systems and components, advising contractors, commissioned architects, engineers, and District Construction Inspectors.
• Assign structural material testing and inspections to laboratories and review test reports.
• Examine soil test results and provide recommendations for structural foundations and construction projects.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

• Minimum of 10 years of full-time professional experience in structural engineering, handling increasingly complex responsibilities.
• At least 5 years of experience overseeing the structural design of major buildings.
• Experience in seismic retrofit projects, preferably with DSA or OSHPD.

Education:

• Required: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering from a recognized university.
• Preferred: Master’s degree in one of the above fields.
• Additional coursework in management and/or supervision is preferred.

License:

• Required: Valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in Structural Engineering issued by the California State Board of Registration of Civil and Professional Engineers (must be maintained throughout employment).

Pay Range: $90-$94 per hour

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
