Who We Are

Safari Kid is a growing early childhood education center in Burlington, MA, offering year-round programs for infants through private kindergarten. We are committed to providing a nurturing, engaging, and safe learning environment where children develop a love for learning.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Director to support the daily operations of our Burlington center and help lead a passionate team of educators. This is a great opportunity for someone who is ready to grow in a leadership role within the early childhood education field.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership & Staff Support

• Assist the Center Director with daily management of the school
• Supervise and support classroom teachers to ensure a positive and productive learning environment
• Help coordinate staff scheduling, breaks, and classroom coverage
• Serve as a role model and mentor to staff and help with onboarding new team members
• Lead or assist in planning staff meetings, trainings, and events

2. Compliance & Curriculum Oversight

• Ensure compliance with EEC regulations and licensing requirements
• Conduct classroom observations and provide feedback to teachers
• Support teachers in curriculum planning and classroom organization
• Help maintain accurate student and staff records

3. Family Engagement

• Welcome and support families with enrollment, tours, and daily communication
• Help address parent concerns professionally and promptly
• Assist in planning family events and center-wide communications

4. Administrative Support

• Assist in administrative duties such as attendance tracking, billing support, and supply management
• Help manage safety procedures, incident reports, and center cleanliness
• Step into Director duties when the Director is off-site

Qualifications

Required:

• EEC Director I or II Certification (or in the process of obtaining)
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• 1+ years of leadership or lead teacher experience in a licensed childcare setting
• Knowledge of Massachusetts EEC regulations
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfort with technology
