Job Description

What do we do at CompassRx:

CompassRx is a seed-stage startup seeking its a Chief of Staff as one of its first hires. We’re using AI to help hospitals combat new pharmacy regulations that are jeopardizing hospitals’ ability to survive. Most systems have already reported cutting services for patients and laying off staff, and without help also risk shutting down. Our north star is to help these systems survive and prosper, to ensure America’s highest risk populations don’t lose access to their care.

What makes CompassRx exciting:

  • Solving a devastating problem with no existing solutions: CompassRx was created in response to regulatory changes in 340B (a drug-discount program) that threatens over $100B annually for hospitals. Due to the small overlap of AI and regulatory experts in the space, we have a incredible window of opportunity as the first-movers. We’re excited to lead the charge.
  • Bringing AI to systems that couldn’t afford it before: Building off our years of experience selling both AI and service solutions to large healthcare enterprises, we’ve come up with a unique business model that allows us to both bring AI to health systems that couldn’t previously afford it and dramatically expedite our sales timelines
  • Building a dream team (hopefully with you): Our founding team includes Ali (ex-Mckinsey) and Alice (ex-CVS), who previously transformed a health system’s admin stack with AI as its pharmacy scaled from $200M to $1B in revenue, and Zach (ex-Jane Street), who has built and lead engineering teams for Sequoia and YC backed companies.

The opportunity:

CompassRx is experiencing rapid demand from the market, having closed our first major health system customer in just 7 weeks. As one of our earliest hires, the Chief of Staff will be a strategic partner to the executive team, playing a critical role in shaping CompassRx’s growth and success.

  • You’ll work closely with the COO to drive execution across operations, marketing, customer success, and more—taking on high-impact projects that will evolve as we scale. This is a unique chance to gain deep exposure across all facets of a fast-growing, mission-driven startup and to help establish the foundation for our long-term success.
  • Within 12–16 months, we anticipate you will transition into a director-level role within the team of your choice, with significant ownership and leadership responsibilities.

The responsibilities you’d be entrusted with:

1. Customer Success & Relationship Management: You will help oversee key customer interactions, providing hands-on support for project management and gathering feedback for our product roadmap.

  • Become a key point of contact for customer relationships, supporting customer onboarding, piloting products and identifying areas for escalation
  • Support both existing and prospective customer relationship building via customer on-sites and industry conferences (occasional travel required)

2. Marketing & Brand Building: Develop and execute marketing strategies that effectively communicate CompassRx’s mission and value proposition. This includes content creation, publications, organizing webinars, and ensuring consistent brand messaging.

3. Operational Efficiency: Design and implement processes to streamline operations, enhance productivity, and manage external vendors, contributing to the scalability of the business.

4. Strategic Planning, Analysis, & Execution: Conduct thorough research and analysis to inform strategic decisions, providing actionable insights and recommendations to the executive team.

5. Culture & Team Building: Champion and enhance CompassRx’s core values by fostering a positive, purpose-driven culture. Act as a unifying force, helping the entire company feel connected, aligned, and successful.

What would make us excited to hire you:

  • 5+ Years Experience in consulting, startups, or similar roles within healthcare
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: 3+ years in a customer-facing role (e.g., account management, customer success, product management), with a track record of building strong relationships and driving value for clients.
  • Entrepreneurial Drive & Problem-Solving: You thrive in fast-moving environments, take ownership, and bring structure to ambiguity. You enjoy identifying challenges, iterating on solutions, and executing with speed and precision.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: You can translate complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives tailored to different audiences, from internal teams to executives and external stakeholders.
  • Hands-On & Solutions-Oriented: You’re willing to roll up your sleeves—whether it’s tackling strategic initiatives or jumping into the details to get things done, with a “no task is too small” mindset
  • Empathy & Mission-Driven Mindset: You care deeply about healthcare access, operational efficiency, and making a tangible impact in improving patient care.

This is a list of ideal qualifications for this position. If you don't meet every single one of them, you should still consider applying! We’re excited to work with people from a mix of backgrounds.
